Brownie Week, Day 1, and a GIVEAWAY!

Yeah! It's Brownie Week and my first GIVEAWAY here at Satisfying My Sweet Tooth!
I am so excited about sharing this fun week with you!

And for the first brownie of the week: Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Bars! You just can't go wrong with the peanut butter and chocolate combination. It's been one of my favorites as long as I can remember. Reeses' Peanut Butter Cups were my favorite growing up and the one thing I would trade any other candy for at Halloween time and then of course M&Ms started making the peanut butter m&ms and I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I tried those. Genius! Now, I found this brownie recipe and I'm in love all over again! A fudgy chocolate brownie with peanut butter chips, a layer of rich peanut butter filling, and then a solid chocolate layer on top. Absolutely amazing!

CHOCOLATE-PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE BARS

1 box Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix
1/2 C peanut butter chips
1/2 C dry roasted peanuts, chopped (optional)

Peanut Butter Filling

3/4 C creamy peanut butter
1 C marshmallow cream
6 T butter, softened
3/4 powdered sugar

Chocolate Glaze

6 oz bittersweet baking chocolate, coarsely chopped
5 T butter
1 T light corn syrup

Preheat oven to 350. Line a 9 inch square pan with foil, letting foil extend above pan on opposite sides. Coat foil with nonstick spray.

Prepare brownie mix as package directs for fudgy brownies. Stir in peanut butter chips and peanuts. Spread evenly in prepared pan.

Bake 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs attached. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

FILLING: beat peanut butter, marshmallow cream and butter in medium bowl until well blended. Reduce speed to low and add powdered sugar. Beat until blended. Spread evenly over brownie.

GLAZE: microwave chocolate and butter, stirring at 30 second intervals until melted and smooth. Cool slightly before stirring in corn syrup. Spread evenly over filling. Refrigerate 1 hour until filling is firm and glaze sets.

Lift foil by ends onto a cutting board and cut 6 rows lengthwise and across.
Store in fridge to keep firm.
Yeah! It's my first giveaway! I'm giving away this awesome cook book from Williams Sonoma! Leave a comment on this post telling me what your dream brownie would be made of. Be sure to comment by Friday, October 10th at 11:59 pm. I will post the winner on Monday, October 13th.

Good luck!

wow was out of the loop with not knowing about this amazing food blog, can't wait to try some recipes! my dream brownie would typically be a carmel brownie but as of late i must confess i've had a new craving. i would die if a mint brownie showed up on my door step, i would love the mint to not be mint chips but like a frostingish mint filling that must of course be the color mint, (green but not to green you know that you be yucky and remind me of grass instead of mint.) if i had this dream brownie that i didn't have to make then i think my life would officialy be complete! amazing what a good treat can do for me.

Thanks for a chance to win a great cookbook. I enjoy Elinor Klivans' cookbooks. I have several though not this one!

I was making your mint brownies today and I think you've written the recipe or instructions wrong. It calls for 1 cup butter divided. 1/2 cup into the brownie base and then it says ad remaining butter to make the mint layer and the chocolate icing layer also says add remaining 1/2 cup butter. Somethings definitely wrong! Help!!

Satisfying my Sweet Tooth said...

Sorry, Jodi! I did post it wrong. I have fixed it now, but it is actually 1 1/2 C butter, divided. I hope it wasn't too much trouble. Thank you for pointing it out and thanks for trying the recipe! Hope it was a hit!
