What? It's Tuesday already? I almost forgot to post today's recipe. Before making this recipe, I really didn't like rice pudding, but it was good for me to make it since my husband likes it and it's a tradition in his family to have it on Christmas. Even though I don't like it, I had a lot of fun making it! We have this little place close by called Pudding on the Rice, and it's like an ice cream parlor with all different kinds of rice pudding instead of ice cream, so I made my rice pudding based on that place.
I made chocolate and vanilla just like the recipe called for, but then I also made mint chocolate by adding a little peppermint extract to the chocolate, butterscotch rice pudding by melting some butterscotch chips into the plain pudding, and cinnamon rice pudding by melting cinnamon chips into the pudding. We had a fun little tasting party with some friends. The mint chocolate and cinnamon were my favorite and it actually tasted really good. Maybe I'm not a hater afterall!
Good choice of recipe from Isabelle of Les gourmandises d’Isa! Check out her blog for the recipe or go get "Baking From My Home To Yours" by Dorie Greenspan. Just a note, her blog is mostly in French, but there is some English and you can use the translator on the right hand side of her blog too. Don't forget to check out the blogroll as always!

That's a fun idea with the rice pudding. I didn't care for it, but made it anyway just so I can now say I've made rice pudding.
Love all the variations, but especially the butterscotch and cinnamon ones - yum!
I love rice pudding. Huge fan. And Pudding on the Rice is my Favorite! So your shout out made me smile:) I'm all about the pistachio.
I like that you tried so many variations and I'm glad you found a variation that you actually liked! I'm always so excited when I try something new on TWD that I thought I didn't like and discover that I actually do.
I'm amazed that there is a place that sells nothing but rice pudding! Wow! Great idea to have a tasting party! Your puddings look great.
Wow - rice pudding party at your house! What time should I be there?
LOL, not a hater after all, huh!

I love how you made different flavors. Can I try one of each?
Okay, overachiever! Just kidding! All these look great and what a great idea!!!
In the Middle East we make rice pudding that has a bit of rose water in it...top it off with toasted almonds and cinnamon. It is called Mahalabi and I love it! I'd love to check out that rice pudding parlor you've got there. I've never heard of a place like that before! I'd also love to try all of your flavors! great idea!
I am officially impressed. The cinnamon does sound very good.
I'm so not a fan of RP either, but you managed to make it look really fun!
I was going to leave you a response to the stew saying I didn't see why it wouldn't freeze well, and then someone responded to your question on HG saying they've tried it and it was just okay. The potatoes are the problem -they go mushy. I wonder if you use a different style of potato -maybe she used russet. The Red pots worked GREAT, and I wonder if they would freeze better than other types.
I saw your post below and better understood why you asked! You're too organized, you put me to shame! The only freezer meals I have are ones that I stick in the freezer before they go bad because we're sick of eating them. Mostly they just ease my conscience about wasting -it's easier to throw away a 2 year old, freezer-burnt meal than a fresh meal you should be eating. But the worst part is that I never have any tupperware in the cupboard, it's all in the freezer!
Anyway, good luck, let me know if you try it and how it goes!
